SA announces ‘Maroon Dreams: An Ode to the ’90s’ as Homecoming Week theme

The theme for the 2023 ÑÇÖÞÉ«°ÉÊÓƵ Homecoming Week, which runs Oct. 29 through Nov. 4, is “Maroon Dreams: An Ode to the ’90s.â€

The MSU Student Association, along with other student organizations, will host a week filled with traditional events, including the Chapel Service, Longest Table, Rise and Shine Breakfast with Royalty, T-Shirt Swap and annual NPHC Homecoming Step Show. For more details, visit .

In addition, we ask all departments, student organizations, fraternity and sorority chapters, and residence hall councils to compete in our Homecoming Door Decorating, House/Lawn Displays, and Banner competitions.

—Door Decorating Competition: The Door Decorating Competition will be divided into three categories: Campus Departments/Colleges, Student Organizations and Fraternity and Sorority chapters.

—House/Lawn Display Competition: There will be a separate competition for Fraternity and Sorority chapters participating in decorating their house or lawns.

Judging for the Door Decorations and House/Lawn Display competitions will take place on Nov. 1 at noon. All door decorations and house/lawn displays must be completed before judging begins.

—Banner Competition: Student organizations will also be given the opportunity to create a banner for Homecoming 2023 that will be placed in the stadium during Homecoming Week. The Homecoming Committee will provide blank banners for the banner competition, which can be picked up starting Oct. 10 at 8 a.m. until Oct. 27 at 5 p.m. in the MSU Center for Student Activities, located in Colvard Student Union’s Suite 314.

All banners must be turned back in to the Center for Student Activities by Oct. 30 at 9 a.m. to be considered for judging.

If your department or student organization is interested in signing up for any of this year's competitions, fill out the interest form at . This form will also provide you a list of guidelines and judging criteria for each competition.

All winners will be announced at the 2023 Homecoming football game on Nov. 4. The winning group in each category (Door Decorating, House/Lawn Display and Banner) will receive a pizza party for their office or organization or $500 credit to MSU Event Services/Union Operations. Prize money has to be used during the 2023-2024 academic year.
