STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擜 sculpture exhibit by Mississippi artist Earl Dismuke is being featured in MSU鈥檚 Cullis Wade Depot Art Gallery through March 11.
鈥淧iecing it Together鈥 showcases a series of pieces from two of Dismuke鈥檚 most recent bodies of work. The collections feature both abstract and objective narratives, with one collection focusing on fabricating a story through found objects, and the other centering on form and negative space.
A sculpture artist for more than a decade, Dismuke cofounded the Yokna Sculpture Trail, a biannual, rotating outdoor exhibition that features a variety of sculptures from artists across the nation. His work has been exhibited in both national and international venues, from Louisiana and Mississippi to Switzerland and Peru.聽
The current showing, located on the second floor of the Cullis Wade Depot, is available for viewing during the building鈥檚 normal hours of operation, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The show also includes a discussion of Dismuke鈥檚 work and a walk-through of the exhibit on Thursday, Feb. 17 at 1 p.m., with a public reception on the same day from 5 to 6 p.m.
The Starkville Area Arts Council and Starkville Visitors and Convention Bureau are sponsors.
